Paradise And Hell

Anas b. Malik reported: The Paradise is surrounded by hardships and the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations. [Sahih Muslim 2822]

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "When Allah created Paradise and Hell, He sent Jibril, peace be upon him, to Paradise and said: 'Look at it and at what I have prepared for its people in it.' He looked at it, then he came back and said: 'By Your Glory, no one will hear of it but he will enter it.' So He commanded that it be surrounded by hardships and said: 'Go and look at it and at what I have prepared for its people in it.' He looked at it and saw that it had been surrounded with hardships. He (Jibril) said: 'By Your Glory, I fear that no one will enter it.' He (Allah) said: 'Go and look at the Fire and at what I have prepared for its people in it.' So he looked at it and parts of it were piled upon other parts. He came back and said: 'By Your Glory, no one will enter it.' So He commanded that it be surrounded with pleasures and said: 'Go and look at it.' So he looked at it and saw that it was surrounded with pleasures. He came back and said: 'By Your Glory, I fear that no one will be saved from it and all will enter it.'" [Sunan an-Nasa'i 3763]

Jannah is not easy, it requires sacrifice, struggle and patience, but Hell is surrounded by pleasure. May Allah SWT count us among the people of paradise.

Paradise A Place Of Joy

Heaven is a place of joy, and this is the reward for pious people. No one can imagine or understand the beauty of paradise until they arrive. Allah has described the beauty of paradise in the Quran, where everyone will be happy and fully satisfied.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Allah says: ‘I have prepared for My righteous slaves that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and it has never crossed the mind of man.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah 4328]

And no human being can imagine what blissful delights are kept hidden for them as a reward for what they used to do. [Quran 32:17]

And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. [Quran 76:20]

...Paradise whose width (is like that of) the heavens and the earth... [Quran 3 : 133]

It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A place the size of a whip in Paradise is better than this world and everything in it.” [Sunan Ibn Majah 4330]

...those who obey Allah and His Messenger will be admitted to paradise... [Quran 4:13]

Those who believe and do good deeds, they are residents of Paradise; they will reside in it forever. [Quran 2:82]

Allah has promised the believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow to reside in it forever, and beautiful mansions in gardens of Eden (Paradise)... [Quran 9 : 72]

Paradise is a place of everlasting happiness, delight and bliss.

Allah SWT said in the Quran : They will have whatever they desire with their Lord. That is the reward of the good-doers. (Qur'an 39 : 34)

And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (Quran 76:19)

...Therein is whatever the souls desire and delights the eyes... (Qur'an 43 : 71)

˹They will be told,˺ “Eat and drink joyfully for what you did in the days gone by.” [Quran 69 : 24]

"And they will be given to drink there a cup [of wine] mixed with Zanjabeel [ginger]" (76:17)

"It [that wine] will be mixed with tasneem, A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah" (83:27-28)

...and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. [Quran 76 : 14]

˹They will also be served˺ any fruit they choose and meat from any bird they desire. [Quran 56 : 20 - 21]

enjoying whatever their Lord will have granted them... [Quran 52 : 18]

...they will enjoy forever. [Quran 18 : 3]

And your Lord is sure to give you [so much], and you will be satisfied. [Quran 93 : 5]

Indeed, the righteous will be amid Gardens and springs, ˹joyfully˺ receiving what their Lord will grant them. Before this ˹reward˺ they were truly good-doers ˹in the world˺: (Qur'an 51 : 15 - 16)

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The inmates of Paradise would see the inmates of the apartment over them just as you see the shining planets which remain in the eastern and the western horizon because of the superiority some have over others. They said: Allah's Messenger, would in these abodes of Apostles others besides them not be able to reach? He said: Yes, they will, by Him, in Whose hand is my life, those who believe in God and acknowledge the Truth, will reach them. [Sahih Muslim 2831b]

All will be awarded ranks according to their deeds... [Quran 6 : 132]

Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "In Paradise there is a tree so big that in its shade a rider may travel for one hundred years without being able to cross it." [Sahih al-Bukhari 6552]

Mu’adh bin Jabal said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Paradise has one hundred grades, each of which is as big as the distance between heaven and earth. The highest of them is Firdaws and the best of them is Firdaws. The Throne is above Firdaws and from it spring forth the rivers of Paradise. If you ask of Allah, ask Him for Firdaws.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah 4331]

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The lowest place of any of you in Jannah will be that Allah will tell him to express his wish. He will wish and wish again. Allah will then ask him: 'Have you expressed your wish?' He will answer: 'Yes, I have.' Allah will say: 'You will have what you have wished for and the like thereof along with it."' [Muslim]. [Riyad as-Salihin 1893]

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, created Adam in His image with His length of sixty cubits, and as He created him He told him to greet that group, and that was a party of angels sitting there, and listen to the response that they give him, for it would form his greeting and that of his offspring. He then went away and said: Peace be upon you! They (the angels) said: May there be peace upon you and the Mercy of Allah, and they made an addition of" Mercy of Allah". So he who would get into Paradise would get in the form of Adam, his length being sixty cubits, then the people who followed him continued to diminish in size up to this day. [Sahih Muslim 2841]

Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying that the inmates of Paradise would eat and drink but would neither spit, nor pass water, nor void excrement, nor suffer catarrah. It was said: Then, what would happen with food? Thereupon he said: They would belch and sweat (and it would be over with their food), and their sweat would be that of musk and they would glorify and praise Allah as easily as you breathe. [Sahih Muslim 2835a]

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: In Paradise there is a street to which they would come every Friday. The north wind will blow and would scatter fragrance on their faces and on their clothes and would add to their beauty and loveliness, and then they would go back to their family after having an added lustre to their beauty and loveliness, and their family would say to them: By Allah, you have been increased in beauty and loveliness after leaving us, and they would say: By Allah, you have also increased in beauty and loveliness after us. [Sahih Muslim 2833]

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah, the Rubb of honour and glory, will say to the inhabitants of Jannah: 'O inhabitants of Jannah!' They will respond: 'Here we are! At Your service, O our Rubb. All good is in Your Hand!' He will ask them: 'Are you pleased?' They will reply: 'Why should we not be pleased, O Rubb, when You have given us what You have not given to any of Your creatures?' Allah will say: 'Shall I not give you something better than that?' They will ask: 'O Rubb! What can be better than that?' Allah will say: 'I shall bestow My Pleasure upon you and I shall never be displeased with you."' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. [Riyad as-Salihin 1894]

...And Allah‘s pleasure is above all. That is the supreme success. [Quran 9:72]

...Believers, love God more than anything... [Quran 2 : 165]

Suhaib (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When the inhabitants of Jannah enter Jannah, Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, will say to them: 'Do you wish me to give you anything more?' They will reply: 'Have You not made our faces bright? Have You not brought us into Jannah and delivered us from the Hell?' And Allah will remove the Veil. The (dwellers of Jannah) will feel that they have not been awarded anything dearer to them than looking at their Rubb." [Muslim].

Allah, the Exalted, says:

"Verily, those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, their Rubb will guide them through their Faith; under them will flow rivers in the Gardens of Delight (Jannah). Their way of request therein will be Subhanaka Allahumma (Glory to You, O Allah!) and Salam (peace, safety from evil) will be their greetings therein (Jannah)! and the close of their request will be: Al-hamdu lillahi Rabbil-'Alamin [All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Rubb of 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)]." (10:9,10) [Riyad as-Salihin 1896]

Narrated Jarir bin `Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will definitely see your Lord with your own eyes." [Sahih al-Bukhari 7435]

Jarir bin 'Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he looked at the full moon and observed, "You shall see your Rubb in the Hereafter as you are seeing this moon; and you will not feel the slightest inconvenience in seeing Him." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. [Riyad as-Salihin 1895]

I have a desire to die right now after listening the blessings in paradise. And just imagine how happy you will be when you see yourself in paradise and see Allah SWT with your own eyes. Subhan Allah. O Allah, make me and my family one of the inheritors of paradise. Ameen Ya Rabbul Alameen.

Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When the dwellers of Jannah enter Jannah, an announcer will call: (You have a promise from Allah that) you will live therein and you will never die; you will stay healthy therein and you will never fall ill; you will stay young and you will never become old; you will be under a constant bliss and you will never feel miserable." [Muslim]. [Riyad as-Salihin 1892]

`Umar b. Muhammad b. Zaid b. `Abdullah b. `Umar b. al-Khattab reported on the authority of his father `Abdullah b. `Umar that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: When the inmates of Paradise would go to Paradise and the inmates of Hell would go to Hell, death would be called and it would be placed between the Paradise and the Hell and then slaughtered and then the announcer would announce: O inmates of Paradise, no death. O inmates of Hell-Fire, no death. And it would increase the delight of the inmates of Paradise and it would increase the grief of the inmates of Hell-Fire. [Sahih Muslim 2850b]

The greatest loss is when there is no place for you in heaven, despite it being thousands of times wider than the earth.

O Allah, I ask You for paradise and seek Your protection from hellfire. In shaa Allah, by the grace of Allah SWT, we are the inheritance of paradise.

...so, whoever has been kept away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has really succeeded... (Quran 3 : 185)

Every success is temporary, but getting Jannah is the real success. The day we enter Paradise is the day we can truly say we have succeeded. May Allah forgive us and grant us "Jannatul-Firdaus." Ameen ya Rabbul Alameen.
